ARTIST STATEMENT
I create from a place that lacks premeditation and employs experiential learning more than delivery of intellectual ideology. I produce works that evolve intuitively. I have spent years studying the intricacies of thought patterns. I am particularly intrigued by the juxtaposition between mind/ego motivation and faith. Emotions that arise during the mark making process are welcomed and incorporated into the piece. My work feels everything and experiences everything in the moment.
I produce a textured surface, and then I move into the space with acrylic layers of color and texture through the application of paint with rag, palette knife, fingers, brayer, and brush. Color, saturation, hue, transparency, luminosity, opacity, form, and texture dialogue to create a conversation that compositionally comes alive until balance and harmony are achieved.
